 Our Showteam

For the last two years, Basingstoke Ice Skating Club has formed a "Showteam" in the Autumn, comprised of club members who perform together to open seasonal temporary ice rinks. This year, it is coached by former British Champion and Olympic competitor, Andrew Place.

The team is selected from members based on their competitive skating level, commitment to club and availability. Our team evolves each year as skaters improve and develop: they are the standard bearers and role models for our membership, as they perform a key public function to promote our club.

In 2015, the team raised over £750 for Salisbury Hospice and Heart FM's Make Some Noise charities, performing eight times at Winchester Cathedral Ice Rink and Wilton Shopping Village.

The combination of fun, dedication, progression, team work, social good and inclusion represents everything that BISC stands for.

This year, we were asked back to perform at Winchester's opening gala.

If you are running a temporary rink and would like the show team to skate for you, there is no direct cost for us to attend and if your evening is set up to raise funds for charity, the National Ice Skating Association waives any fees for the show permit for the evening.

The team is a great opportunity to promote your rink in local press and social media, providing content for your press releases and also to potentially align charity activity with your commercial rink.
